Covid-19 has impacted all of us in a very deep way, but the special needs community have been particularly hard hit. For a community that is in a constant battle against social isolation, the painful reality of Covid-19 has been all the more challenging. We’ve tried to be as creative as possible in moving all of our programming online and thankfully we’ve developed a beautiful virtual offering that is giving so much to our Friendship Circle families, as well as our volunteers. As we strive to continue supporting our kids, teens and young adults with special needs and begin to take the first steps down the path toward a physical reopening, we need to raise awareness and funds for the crucial work that Friendship Circle Upper East Side does.
This year’s walk on Sunday, September 13 will obviously look different than previous years. We are planning for a virtual, socially distanced day, with everyone planning their own walking or running route (new addition for this year, run a 5k, 10k or 1/2 marathon for friendship!), but our goal remains the same: celebrate the unique beauty of individuals with special needs and raise the awareness and funds that will allow us to continue this all important work.
