On Sunday, May 21st I’ll be walking/running to raise awareness and funds for an organization and a community that has a special place in my heart: Friendship Circle. I have been part of Friendship Circle for five years, and have appreciated every moment with the organization.
When I attend Friendship Circle every Sunday, for the past two years, I am paired with Molly. Molly is 13 years old and the sweetest buddy I have ever been paired with. Every time that I see Molly, she jumps up and down with excitement to see me, and tells me how happy she is to be spending the Sunday with her two best friends (referring to me and her other buddy, Rose). It is these moments that touch my heart and make me realize the impact the Friendship Circle has on children with special needs.
Friendship Circle Upper East Side works every day to cultivate friendships between kids, teens and young adults with special needs and dedicated teen and young adult volunteers, providing social and recreational opportunities that are otherwise unavailable to individuals with special needs. Hundreds of friendships have been formed and so many lives have been changed for the better because of this beautiful organization.
These children need our support, and I am urging you to join me in this cause. As Friendship Circle continues to grow and reach more children, now more than ever, I’m inspired to continue supporting this special community.
